🔥 I Almost Didn't Show Up | Keep Building When Opposition Comes
Share
There are some mornings when showing up feels easy.
Then there are mornings when your body hurts, your emotions are stretched, your mind is tired, and everything within you wants to stay in bed.
This was one of those mornings.
Since Saturday night, I had been dealing with a lingering headache and wasn't feeling my best. For a moment, I considered canceling the prayer call altogether.
But the Holy Spirit reminded me of something important:
👉🏾 Just because opposition shows up doesn't mean God has changed His mind.
So I showed up anyway.
Not because I felt strong.
Not because everything was perfect.
But because obedience is often more important than comfort.
And what God showed me during prayer became the message of the morning:
Keep building when opposition comes.
🧱 Opposition Is Not Always a Sign to Stop
Nehemiah and the builders faced resistance almost immediately.
The moment construction began, opposition appeared.
Criticism came.
Threats came.
Discouragement came.
Yet God never told them to stop building.
In fact, the opposition became evidence that the work was moving forward.
Sometimes we assume resistance means we missed God.
But often resistance means we are exactly where God assigned us to be.
📖 "So built we the wall... for the people had a mind to work." — Nehemiah 4:6
⚔️ Don't Let Opposition Change Your Assignment
The enemy's goal is not always to destroy the work.
Sometimes his goal is simply to delay it.
If he can get us distracted, discouraged, offended, fearful, or exhausted, he may convince us to lay down the very thing God told us to build.
But God is calling His people to remain focused.
👉🏾 Keep praying.
👉🏾 Keep serving.
👉🏾 Keep writing.
👉🏾 Keep worshiping.
👉🏾 Keep building.
The assignment has not changed.
🔥 God Gives Grace for the Journey
One thing I have learned is that God does not wait until we feel strong before He uses us.
Sometimes He meets us in our weakness.
Sometimes He strengthens us while we are moving.
Sometimes the testimony is not that we avoided the battle.
Sometimes the testimony is that we showed up anyway.
I almost didn't show up.
But God showed up.
And His grace was sufficient.
🙏🏾 A Moment of Reflection
Take a moment and ask yourself:
• Where has opposition tempted me to quit?
• What assignment has God called me to continue building?
• Have I mistaken resistance for God's rejection?
• What step of obedience is God asking me to take this week?
