From My Parents' Faith to My Own Faith | The Invitation to the Secret Place

👨👩👧 A Strong Foundation
My parents came to know the Lord Jesus when I was three years old. While I was not necessarily born into the faith, I often joke that I became a "pew baby" shortly thereafter. Church was a regular part of my life. I grew up hearing the Word of God, learning spiritual disciplines from my parents, memorizing scripture, and being surrounded by worship and sacred music.
I am grateful for the spiritual foundation they provided. Through their example, I learned that God was real, His Word was true, and a life devoted to Christ was worth pursuing. They introduced me to Jesus, taught me how to pray, and showed me the importance of building a life upon God's Word.
❤️ A Personal Decision
About a month before my tenth birthday, I came to know Jesus personally.
While I had been surrounded by faith for most of my young life, there came a moment when I had to respond to God for myself. My parents could teach me about Him, but they could not develop my relationship with Him. That decision belonged to me.
As I grew older, I realized that every believer must eventually move from hearing about God to personally knowing Him. A relationship with God cannot be inherited. It must be cultivated through our own pursuit of Him.
🙏 The Invitation Is Still Personal
One of the greatest lessons I have learned is that the invitation to the secret place is personal.
God did not simply love my parents. He loved me.
He did not only desire fellowship with them. He desired fellowship with me.
Jesus said in Matthew 6:6:
"But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place..."
The Father continues to extend that same invitation today. The secret place is where our faith becomes personal. It is where we discover His voice, experience His presence, and build a relationship with Him that no one else can build for us.
Whether you grew up in church or are just beginning your journey with Christ, the invitation remains the same:
✨ Come closer.
🤔 A Moment of Reflection
Have you accepted God's personal invitation into the secret place, or have you been relying on someone else's relationship with Him?
What practical step can you take this week to spend intentional time in His presence?
Take a moment to quiet the noise and consider where God may be inviting you to draw closer.
🙌 Go Deeper in Prayer
This week's Monday Morning Prayer & The Word, "The Invitation to the Secret Place", explores God's desire for personal relationship and how intimacy with Him begins when we respond to His call.
Take time to watch or revisit the replay and allow the Lord to draw you deeper into His presence.

🔥 Final Thought
The greatest gift your family, church, or spiritual mentors can give you is an introduction to Jesus. But eventually, each of us must answer His invitation for ourselves.
This week, make room for the secret place. Turn down the distractions, lean into His presence, and discover the joy of knowing Him personally.
🔥 The invitation is personal. The response is yours.
